McCormick's Creek Men's Outing

In the Shelter

Greetings in the name of Jesus!

What a great turn out for the Men's outing to McCormick's Creek State Park Saturday. I didn't get an exact count, but there were about 22-25. It was a great time of fellowship. We Grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs, and just to name a few; Richard brought Lula's persimmon pudding, Fernando brought homemade potato salad and Pastor brought lemonade. Thanks to all who brought food, deserts and everything required for a cook out.

We did some hiking down through the canyon along the creek and up through the woods. Don Super brought his horseshoes and some of the younger guys went over to play tennis and basketball.

On the Trail

Eight out of 20-some went horseback riding and wow did I enjoy that 3 mile trip through the woods on the trail. I believe that was the first time for me riding a horse (Dan). Dan was well trained and didn't take much of a tug on the reigns to pull him back in line, it was a wonderful experience.

Unfortunately when I turned on my camera, the batteries were dead and I forgot about my phone until later. I was near end of the line of horses, so the picture is from the back.

Wonderful weather for a horse ride through the woods!

Sunday Morning

By Bro. Ed Underwood
Several visitors were in attendance, very inspiring to see God’s House filling up. The first quarter of 2008 has been good and let's join together in expecting great things in the remaining three quarters of this year for Cornerstone Worship Center. I know the Board is working diligently and I, along with others are looking forward with great anticipation to the additional alter to kneel at and the installation of the new baptistery tank. God is doing great things at CWC!

Sis. Angie led the choir and congregation in praise singing “Let it Rain”, a peace and time of consecration filled the air as people began offering up praise with lifted hands towards heaven all over the sanctuary. The Holy Spirit moved through the sanctuary like a warm autumn breeze gently blowing through colorful leaves. It is in the quiet times we can listen most to God.

Sis Carrie Poole blessed us with an inspirational song, “When we call on Jesus, All things are possible”! How true it is, how true it is – Glory Halleluiah!!

Pastor Reynolds brought forth the anointed Word, preaching on getting over past mistakes so we can move on in the calling of God. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Peter was a follower of Jesus, but then later denied that he knew Jesus. Peter allowed himself to be ruled by fear, quick to speak and slow to listen. Peter did what he no doubt thought he would never do. Mark 14:72, “And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.” As Pastor says frequently, sin will always take you further and deeper than you think. What if Peter allowed the shame and guilt of his mistake to have kept him from restoration in Christ??? Peter would not have gone on to preach at Pentecost and become the vessel God intended and used mightily. Peter failed, but he didn’t quit! Peter moved on with God and didn’t wallow in his past sins and mistakes.

God has called you with a purpose and God is the God of second chances! No one else can do what you can do. My Dad has a saying, “when you fall off the horse, dust yourself off and get back on and ride again”. Don’t allow yesterdays mistakes and failures keep you from moving into victory through Christ Jesus!

Don't live in the past, look to a wonderful future in Christ Jesus!

Church Doors

Hebrews 10:25, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

It is hard to imagine these church doors being busted down with people seeking Christ after the Rapture. Don't wait, the church doors are open for you and restoration in Christ awaits while there is still time. The signs of God's return are all around us, don't wait.

Ponderings: A Mere Façade

Facade
The picture shows a painting on the side of a building. The gifted artist did a fine job of painting what appears to be a hotel and café on a brick wall of a paint store. Good advertising I suppose and the painting is well done and interesting, but it is merely a façade. For the unsuspecting weary traveler looking for rest and food, what a disappointment to discover what appears to be just what he or she needs, in fact is quite the opposite. There is no substance, no hotel and no food. What the weary traveler will find is an attractive illusion, because it’s a brick wall and what is on the inside is not at all what is expected looking at the outside.

Hinders come in many forms to distract us from our walk with God. The famous Marlboro cowboy sitting on his horse in the high country smoking a cigarette has been appealing to allot of men. But in fact, what is on the inside of the cigarette is destroying him. On the surface, bars and nightclubs can be alluring to others whether it’s the lights, booze, people or the party atmosphere. But in fact, the inside of the nightlife can destroy marriages & break apart families.

Cornerstone is an attractive building sitting in the middle of ten acres of green space. And what you will find on the inside is not an illusion, but people that really care about you. You can be in the presence of almighty God, your creator, your healer, your provider and your savior.

Your brother in Christ,

Sunday Morning

How can we not believe in Creation with all the evidence around us all? God has surely run his fingers through Southern Indiana with all the beautiful rolling hills, valleys and meandering streams.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!! Glorious Sunday, the day we set aside for the Sabbath to offer up praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sunday morning begin at 9:30am with the dedicated teaching staff sharing what was on their hearts and teaching from the Word of God in all the Sunday School Classes located around the sanctuary.

Kurzweil Keys

Bro. John O. blessed us in song by singing, “Hold me Jesus”. Bro. KC Row and family visited with Bro. KC joining the music on keyboard. Sis. Angie led praise & worship and the last song summed up the morning; In the presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace, Troubles vanish, hearts are mended, In the presence of The King. What a wonderful peacefulness of the Holy Spirit filled the God's House as if moving through the pews and across the platform.

Bass

Praise was offered up on the musical instruments, in song and uplifting of hands all across the sanctuary.

Psalms 150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

Pastor Reynolds brought forth the anointed Word of God. He brought the society in which we live with the following: what are we like? never satisfied or contented? Spiritualistic & idolatrous? easily deceived, lacking discernment? Are you a conformist of society?

Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Does your conscience still work? See 2nd Timothy 4:1-2. But the Good News of the Gospel tells us, "but ye are a chosen generation, a peculiar people. God has called you out of darkness into his Glorious light!" What a great promise we have in Christ. Pastor gave the alter call, encouraging all to seek a born again experience. O’ how great it is to experience Repentance, Baptism and the Holy Ghost. Gabriel is about to step out and blow the trumpet as Jesus comes back for his people. Be ready, be ready.

Don’t be weary in well doing,
Bro. Ed Underwood
