Ponderings: A Mere Façade

Facade
The picture shows a painting on the side of a building. The gifted artist did a fine job of painting what appears to be a hotel and café on a brick wall of a paint store. Good advertising I suppose and the painting is well done and interesting, but it is merely a façade. For the unsuspecting weary traveler looking for rest and food, what a disappointment to discover what appears to be just what he or she needs, in fact is quite the opposite. There is no substance, no hotel and no food. What the weary traveler will find is an attractive illusion, because it’s a brick wall and what is on the inside is not at all what is expected looking at the outside.

Hinders come in many forms to distract us from our walk with God. The famous Marlboro cowboy sitting on his horse in the high country smoking a cigarette has been appealing to allot of men. But in fact, what is on the inside of the cigarette is destroying him. On the surface, bars and nightclubs can be alluring to others whether it’s the lights, booze, people or the party atmosphere. But in fact, the inside of the nightlife can destroy marriages & break apart families.

Cornerstone is an attractive building sitting in the middle of ten acres of green space. And what you will find on the inside is not an illusion, but people that really care about you. You can be in the presence of almighty God, your creator, your healer, your provider and your savior.

Your brother in Christ,
Ed Underwood
